Project Sticker Shock to bring awareness to underage drinking during Service Day

first_imgSubmitted to Sumner Newscow — The Sumner County Community Drug Action Team, SCCDAT, is partnering with the Wellington Police Department and the Wellington High School to participate with this years’ Service Day at WHS.As a part of Service Day, members from these three organizations will be participating in Project Sticker Shock. This project brings awareness to the community about underage drinking and the consequences of providing alcohol to minors. In order to complete this project the Sticker Shock team will ask for the assistance from local alcohol retail establishments, by displaying on alcohol packaging reminders of Laws and fines associated with providing alcohol to minors. This project is well received in the retail community and they are always willing to help provide this education. As Prom is also coming up it provides SCCDAT and the Wellington Police Department the opportunity to remind citizens this time of year is special to many people. It is also a time of year when tragedy can occur due to poor decisions. It is our hope that this Project reaches people that need assistance making the right choices. This event will occur during Service Day, April 22nd.If you would like more information about this event or similar activities please contact Gerald Gilkey at SCCDAT, at 620-440-7547 or Wellington Chief of Police Tracy Heath at 620-326-3331.Follow us on Twitter.
