Environment Canada calls for more heavy rain this weekend

first_imgThe Peace Region could receive another 50 to 80 mm of rain this week.Environment Canada has issued a statement that heavy rain is expected over northeast B.C. Beginning late Thursday night and continuing through Saturday morning. The forecast calls for 50 to 80 mm of rain.The majority of the rain is expected to fall over central and southern parts of the Peace region. So far the models have been a bit inconsistent with rainfall amounts and exact locations. However, the pattern indicates a high probability for heavy rainfall over the Peace region starting late Thursday night and continuing throughSaturday morning.- Advertisement -With more rain in the forecast, The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a high streamflow advisory for the Peace region.Although most river systems in the Peace have dropped back down to the water levels prior to the flood event on June 25-28, soil conditions remain saturated and streams are expected to respond quickly to this additional precipitation. River levels in the region are forecast to rise, with the potential for high flows from Friday into the weekend. first_imgThe weekly Swilly Rovers FC lotto draw took place last night. Winning numbers for Sunday 2nd August were 15,16,20,23. There was no jackpot winner. One person had 3 numbers and that was Helen McCloy, congratulations. Next week’s draw will take place on Sunday the 9th in the Lennon Lodge with the jackpot being €1350.Swilly Rovers FC would like to thank the FAI coaches who ran the camp Summer Soccer School and to all who contributed all week at Swilly Park. The children all enjoyed a great week of football.Swilly Rovers FC would like firstly thank everyone who contributed to the annual bucket collection, it was a resounding success with the club raising €3788. Also the club would like to extend its gratitude to all who contributed there time to collect.The club would like to extend its congratulations to the clubs players who represented the Finn Harps academy who competed in the Dublin Cup this week past.
