Manhattan Restaurant relaunch brings big city dining to the heart of Donegal

first_imgDonegal Town, Ireland’s top Foodie Town, is celebrating a delicious new addition with the reopening of Manhattan Restaurant this weekend.The former steakhouse on Main Street is now under new ownership. With a new look and a new menu, it’s about to be the next big hotspot for wining and dining.Chef Jonathan Reeves and Catherine Keown are leading the family-run venture. This Friday night (6th September) they are hosting a relaunch party from to cheer in a new era for the Manhattan. He has worked in Ireland for almost 10 years and is best known as the former Head Chef of one of Mayo’s top restaurants, Brennan’s Lane.Now, he is bringing all the influences of his career together to design a new menu for Manhattan.Chef Jonathan Reeves and Catherine Keown – new owners of The Manhattan Restaurant“The difference is, rather than just being a steakhouse, we have a much-varied menu from bar bites to fine-dining such as surf and turf,” Jonathan said.“We have an eclectic menu with 12 starters, 4 salads and 20 main courses. There are a few funky and trendy courses people will enjoy, like duck poutine.” Chef Jonathan ReevesThe ingredients at Manhattan start local, with fish from Killybegs, vegetables from Doherty’s Bridgend, all-Irish chicken and pork, and lamb from the local butchers.“We’re all about low food mileage and staying in the village. We try to be as green as possible, we manage our food waste and take care of the environment while we provide a casual and warm environment for people to enjoy a great meal experience,” Jonathan said.Manhattan boasts two venues – a stylish cocktail lounge and dining room. Guests can book a party room if they have a special event, or simply visit to enjoy a premium cocktail. “Our cocktails are done a little differently – like the frozen daiquiri has no ice or syrups,” Jonathan said.The warm and friendly restaurant is just another exciting event for Donegal Town, which is still celebrating the success of A Taste of Donegal Food Festival and the Foodie Destinations Awards. Jonathan said: “I can’t believe the buzz that’s here in Donegal Town, it’s a fantastic town for food, the award was amazing.
