Three other Express players are believed to be involved in Match-Fixing

first_imgExpress FC lost 2-0 to Onduparaka in their last game, one of the two that were allegedly fixed (file photo)WANKULUKUKU – Hours after Express FC suspended their Captain Julius Ntambi, it has emerged that three more players at the club have been fixing matches in the recent past.Ntambi was indefinitely suspended by the club on Thursday and the information was availed to the media through a press release. However, it looks like Ntambi is not the only one who is involved in the scandal. This was confirmed to PML Daily by a source who preferred to remain anonymous.“Kiryowa Kiwanuka (Express FC Chairperson) attended the Thursday evening training session and that is when he let the team know about Ntambi and others, said the source.“Kiwanuka was in a sore mood and announced to the players that Ntambi had technically been fired.“The Chairperson also let the team know that there are three more players that have been fixing matches.KK, as he is commonly known, had earlier in the season cautioned Express players against match-fixing at a meeting in Lugogo but it looks like his words fell on deaf ears.According to the source, one of the three players involved in the dirty business is believed to be center-back, Shafick Kakeeto who has been in and out of the first team this season.Kiwanuka then proceeded to warn Kakeeto and co assuring them and the rest of the team, that in future, whoever is found guilty of the act will be handed over to the authorities. It has also emerged that Ntambi has been banned from setting foot at Wankulukuku although he will be paid his salary until the season closes.Ntambi who did not appear for Training on Thursday claiming he had a fever, is accused of fixing two games this season. One being the 1-1 draw away to Bright Stars and the 2-0 home loss against Onduparaka last Saturday. He becomes the second high profile player to be banned for match-fixing after Nyamityobora FC’s Captain, Henry Wamala.Comments Tags: Julius NtambiKiryowa KiwanukaShafick KakeetoStarTimes Uganda Premeir Leaguetoplast_img read more
